crushed, pressed down, and running over

the sanitary landfill:
a revolution in waste
management. go look it up.
layers of earth and not-earth,
your cake, your eat-it-too, this
deep investment pays returns
in not having to mind. much.
a perfect analogy
to last night and what happened
(and what didn’t), don’t you think?
all that effort focused on
making oblivion cool.
suddenly, i don’t have to
think about what lies buried:
old coffee grounds crushed into
smashed up light bulbs between sheets
soiled and twisted around
her contiguous limbs, her
undecayable hair, her
self. the uncompostable
bit. the body i can’t think
